The Hospice Volunteer Registry Service is a program of Anam Cara Compassionate Care Center. The Registry recruits, trains, and retains volunteers to provide companionship and emotional support to hospice patients while giving caregivers a needed break. These skilled volunteers are a valuable part of the hospice care team.
Anam Cara is also a Learning Center for end of life issues. Through the Volunteer Training Program, a 16-hour intensive course provides continuing education credit and training to care professionals, counselors and chaplains, as well as other caregivers, on how to provide terminally ill people with a compassionate, dignified, end of life experience. Participants who complete the course receive a certificate of course completion as well as opportunities for being mentored and volunteering bedside.
